Using Galaxy Cluster Peculiar Velocities to Constrain Cosmological Parameters
نویسنده
چکیده
Galaxy cluster peculiar velocities can be inferred from high–sensitivity, high–resolution multiple–frequency observations in the 30 to 400 GHz range. While galaxy cluster counts and power spectra are sensitive to the growth factor, peculiar velocities are sensitive to the time–derivative of the growth factor and are hence complementary. Using linear perturbation theory, we forecast constraints on Ωm, H0 and the dark–energy equation of state parameter, w, given 820 densely sampled cluster locations (at z ≃ 1) from a ΛCDM N–body simulation and 820 sparsely sampled cluster locations in a broader redshift range.

Measuring Cosmological Parameters from the Evolution of Cluster X-ray Temperatures
We have determined the cluster X-ray temperature function from two fluxand redshift-limited samples of clusters. The first sample is comprised of 25 clusters with average redshift 0.05. The local temperature function derived from it supercedes the one we previously published (Henry & Arnaud, 1971). Fourteen clusters with average redshift 0.38 comprises the second sample. We perform maximum like...
متن کاملBreaking the Degeneracies between Cosmology and Galaxy Bias
Adopting the framework of the Halo Occupation Distribution (HOD), we investigate the ability of galaxy clustering measurements to simultaneously constrain cosmological parameters and galaxy bias. Starting with a fiducial cosmological model and galaxy HOD, we calculate spatial clustering observables on a range of length and mass scales, dynamical clustering observables that depend on galaxy pecu...
متن کاملCosmological Constraints from Galaxy Cluster Velocity Statistics
Future microwave sky surveys will have the sensitivity to detect the kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich signal from moving galaxy clusters, thus providing a direct measurement of their line-of-sight peculiar velocity. We show that cluster peculiar velocity statistics applied to foreseeable surveys will put significant constraints on fundamental cosmological parameters. We consider three statistical qu...
متن کاملThe Cosmological Mean Density and Its Local Variations Probed by Peculiar Velocities
Peculiar velocities throughout the region of the Local Supercluster are reconstructed by two different orbit-retracing methods. The requirement of the optimal correlation between the radial components of reconstructed velocities and the observed peculiar velocities derived from our extensive new catalog of distances puts stringent constraints on the values of the cosmological parameters. Our co...
متن کاملEffect of Internal Flows on Sunyaev-zeldovich Measurements of Cluster Peculiar Velocities
Galaxy clusters are potentially powerful probes of the large-scale velocity field in the Universe because their peculiar velocity can be estimated directly via the kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect (kSZ). Using high-resolution cosmological simulations of an evolving cluster of galaxies, we evaluate how well the average velocity obtained via a kSZ measurement reflects the actual cluster peculia...
